Christine Toma
Owner and Lead Physiotherapist
I’m a graduate of the PT program at the University of Toronto (2008) with an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology. I worked several years in the USA in clinical orthopedics. I also worked for 4 years as a teaching associate at the University of Washington in the Physical Therapy program where I assisted in teaching several courses and in performing lab demonstrations. I have now been practicing in Ontario as a homecare therapist since 2015 with a passion for delivering quality care to my patients. I have found that patients have better and faster results when treated one-on-one in their own home compared with in clinic, as they are given full focus and attention within their functional environment.

While living in Washington
While living in Washington, I was fortunate to have had the rare opportunity of completing a one year mentorship program in the principles of Movement Systems Impairments, based on the work of Shirley Sahrmann, PT, PHD, FAPTA. I was mentored by Sahrmann’s direct colleague of over 20 years, Carrie Hall (author of Therapeutic Exercise: Moving Toward Function (Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 3e ©2010). Movement Systems Impairments teaches an analytical approach to human kinetics and provides a classification system of mechanical pain syndromes that are designed to direct a patient's exercise prescription and the correction of faulty movement patterns.
